Happy birthday to India!

Very happy 67th birthday to India and on this occasion looking at all the economic and financial storms raging in India I remembered the times in May 1998 when India conducted the 2nd round of nuclear tests, after a blank of 14 years thanks to external pressure (meanwhile Pakistan was running to China and North Korea, both communist and atheist nations wink wink, for being able to become the 1st nuclear capable you-know-what nation), how the initial euphoria of smiling Buddha gave away to doom and gloom of sanctions and bans. Newspapers and news channels started debating how BJP led NDA had dug India's grave by doing something which was not attempted by anyone since Indira Gandhi in 1974, and how this will cause unfathomable problems for Indian exports, Indian industries and Indian diaspora living in west. But we survived not just 1998 but also the Y2K & S/W bubble burst and 9/11's inconceivable damage to S/W exports, in-fact we became stronger. But no one attributes this to the then PM Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee or his government because over time we don't praise any PM except those hailing from Nehru-Gandhi family.
Today after 9+ years of Congress rule under famed economist Mr. Manmohan Singh (Manmohan Singh is the rubber-stamp for the you know who. Going a bit on tangent, civics books should update the definition of Prime Minister: Is a rubber stamp, one who works on the orders of Congress president) we are again at the crossroads of self-destruction and mutual-executions. We can't take any of the roads because neither of it is going to take us anywhere, the names of the roads are self-explanatory unless someone is Congress-blind. Why has the economic situation of a powerhouse like India come to this? Sure there are lots of external factors like US economy is in doldrums, Europe is slowly melting economically etc. etc. but everyone forgets how India was still a prancing horse in 2007-2008 despite global meltdown. One of the major reasons for this is the grand vision which our current government commands, vision which is scam tainted to be precise. Everythings starts with visions and promises but ends with scams. Meanwhile whole government machinery is working overtime to attribute the scams to different people, organizations, countries, or apply game theory (sorry for this Mr. John Nash) on the scams to make them zero loss etc.
Sadly, Congress led UPA government has nothing to boast after it decided to constitutionally modify RTI act with the help of its B-team BJP, so it wants to handout people the so called food bill which will help a lot of Indians vote for it again, though these same Indians will realize after 2014 elections that the food bill is farce because a huge scam will be uncovered and SC might ban the food bill or it might become very costly to sustain the food bill with so much of scam money gone from it. Who knows what other excuses might see the day of light in 2014?
We will keep repeating this cycle again and again because the opposition parties are deaf and dumb. For opposition parties, surviving in the cut throat competition of democracy is more important than uncovering any real scams or fighting for people's rights. Once in a while we might get leaders like Mr. Vajpayee or some Janta Dal government or Anna but this will only be the silver lining in the otherwise dark clouds of Indian democracy. No wonder Netaji Subhash Chnadra Bose wanted dictatorship in India for first 25 years, it is way more acceptable now after 50+ years of dynastic rule of Congress.
Happy 67th Independence day again to India that is Indira and Indira that was Nehru and India that became what sons, daughters and in-laws wanted it to be!
